He does not have a mouth or tongue or lips in the way that we have. When the Bible speaks about those things the Bible is using anthropomorphisms. It means that God describes Himself in terms that we lowly humans can understand. We understand mouths and tongues. So he speaks to us of His mouth and tongue. John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
The use of his voice in judgement should be scary for unbelievers but a delight to His children. 2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Job 4:9 By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.Isaiah 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. Hosea 6:5 Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.Revelation 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 19:15: And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. |
